DAW definition Digital Audio Workstations are MIDI sequencers
MIDI definition Musical Instrumental Digital Interface contains data in the form of numbers about a song
Note ON / Note OFF Denotes the length of a note
Pitch Denotes the frequency of a note
Velocity Denotes how "hard" a note is played
Volume Denotes the loudness of a note
Panning Denotes the note's location within the left-right stereo field
input/output system MIDI in (input) -> DAW -> Midi out (output, often to an instrument)
