Water Cycle Terms
These are the vocabulary words from Ms. Le's Cornell Notes on the Water Cycle
| Term | Definition |

| Runoff | Water that flows downslope along the surface. |
| Precipitation | When condensed water moves from the atmosphere down to either the hydrosphere or the solid earth. |
| Evaporation | When water moves from the hydrosphere or the solid earth up to the atmosphere. |
| Infiltration | When precipitation goes into the ground and becomes groundwater. |
| Percolation | The rate that water runs through the ground. |
| Transpiration | When plants absorb water and then release it back into the atmosphere through their leaves. |
| Condensation | When water changes from a gas to a liquid. Energy must be removed rom the water molecules. Results in increased air temperatures. |
