basic science vocabulary

science a way of learning about the natural world
scientific investigation the way in which scientists study the natural world
quantitative observation an observation that deals with numbers and amounts
classifying grouping together items that are alike in some ways
inferring explaining or interpreting the things one observes
making models creating representations of complex objects or processes
evaluating comparing observations and data to reach a conclusion about them
observing using one or more of your senses to gather information
qualitative observation an observation that cannot be described or expressed in numbers
predicting making a statement or a claim about what will happen in the future based on past experiences or evidence
