Environmental Science A study that looks into how areas of life and earth have problems facing the environment which can be solved with a scientific outlook
Ecosystem A location on earth with biotic and abiotic components
Biotic Living beings such as plants, animals, and bacteria
Abiotic Nonliving things such as rocks, soil, and air
Environmentalist A person with direct concern about the environment and organisms around them
Ecosystem service Naturally occurring benefits that we gain from the ecosystems such as food and water
Economic service The focus on provision rather than the production of goods
Biodiversity Variety of different species
Genetic Diversity Genetic variety within all populations of species
Species A group of organism that different in sizes, shape, behavior, and biochemical properties
Species Diversity Includes variety within a specific place.
Speciation Formation of 2 species because of natural selection due to environmental conditions
Greenhouse gases Gases that trap heat within the earth's atmosphere
Anthropogenic Something that comes from humans
Sustainability The capacity of earth's natural systems
Biophilia Literal meaning "Love for life or living system"
Ecological Footprint A person participation in pollution output
Hyptohesis A scientific guess
Control Group The group that stays the same in order to have something to measure results on
Sample size The number of people within a certain study
Replication (Experimentation) The action of reproducing something
Theory An idea to explain something
Surface Tension The property of liquids allowing it to resist external force due to cohesive water molecules

Acid Substance that donates protons during chemical reactions
Base A substance that neutralize acid
pH Measure of how acidic something is
