TermDefinition
organism a living thing.
cell the basic unit of structure and function in living things.
unicellular made of a single cell.
multicellular consisting of many cells.
stimulus any change or signal in the environment that can make an organism react in some way.
Response an action or change in behavior that occurs as a result of a stimulus.
Spontaneous generation The mistaken idea that living things arise from nonliving sources.
Homeostasis The condition in which an organisms internal environment is kept stable in spite of changes in the external environment.
Characteristics A feature that helps to identify something.
Microscope An instrument that makes small objects look larger.
cell theory a widely accepted explanation of the relationship between cells and living thing.
Distinguish: 1) To manage to recognize something you can barely see 2) to point out a different.
Growth Size or stage of development.
Hand lens A magnifying glass designed to be held in the hand.
Magnification To increase the apparent size of an object.
Reproduce To reproduce it's kind, as in an organism; bear offspring.
Waste Anything left over or not of use.
energy the ability to do work or cause change.
