TermDefinition
Organism A living thing.
Cell The basic unit of structure and function in living things.
Unicellular Made of a single cell.
Multicellular Consisting of many cells.
Stimulus Any changes or single in the environment that can make an organism react in some way.
Response An action or change in behavior that occurs as an result of a stimulus.
Spontaneous Generation The mistaken idea that living things arise from nonliving sources.
Homeostasis The condition in which an organism's internal environment is kept stable in spite of changes in the external environment.
Characteristics A feature that helps to identify something.
Microsope An instrument that makes small objects look larger.
Cell Theory A widely accepted explanation of the relationship between cells and living things.
Distinguish To manage to recognize something you can barely see to point out a different.
Growth Size or stage of development.
Hand lens A magnifying glass designed to be held in the hand.
Magnification To increase the apparent size or an object.
Reproduce To reproduce its kind, as an organism; bear offspring.
Energy The ability to work or to cause change.
Waste Anything left over or not of use.
