Organelle Analogy: Human organs A miniscule cell structure with its own function.
Cell wall Analogy: Concrete wall A protective layer around the cells of living organisms, but just plants.
Cell membrane Analogy: Gates A barrier that surrounds a cell and decides which substances get in/out of the cell.
Cytoplasm Analogy: Gel/cream The thick fluid part of a cell that is inside/between the membrane (and nucleus).
Nucleus Analogy: The brain A large organelle in a cell that has the cell´s genetic material in the form of DNA. It controls the cell´s movements.
Mitochondria Analogy: Gas purifier Rod-shaped organelles that changes food molecules into energy in order to fuel the cell.
Chloroplast Analogy: Photosynthesis An organelle in the cells of some organisms that use sunlight to fuel the cells in plants of course.
Vacuole Analogy: The stomach and intestines A sac-like organelle that stores fuel such as food, water, etc.
Endoplasmic Reticulum Analogy: Machine batteries for protein bars The part in a cell that helps the ribosomes create protein and other good stuff.
Ribosomes Analogy: Protein bars The part of the cells that create protein.
Lysosomes Analogy: Stomach acid The part of the cell that breaks down food and dead cell parts.
Golgi Apparatus Analogy: Gas lines The part of a cell that sends fuel throughout the cell.
Prokaryote Analogy: Bacteria Single-celled organism, a small piece of life.
Eukaryote Analogy: Humans Multi-celled organism, a giant piece of life.
