| Use and Obtain Energy | Energy is important to organisms because it powers life processes. It provides every organism with the ability to grow, reproduce, and carry out life functions. |
| Respond to Stimulus | An external stimulus will cause a response from a living thing. Responses are the reactions to the external stimulus. |
| Maintains Homeostasis | The regulation of an organism’s internal environment to maintain balance is called homeostasis. |
