Plants are classified into 2 groups according to the way they reproduce. They are ..... Flowering and non flowering plant
Part of the plants that is used to reproduce is ...... Flower
Male reproductive parts of the plant are called .... stamen
Female reproductive parts of the plant are called .... carpel
stamen consists of ..... filament and anther
carpel consists of ...... stigma, style, ovary, ovule
Part of the flower that has bright color to attract insect for pollination is ...... petal
Mention the function of stigma. to receive pollen grains during pollination
Mention the function of petal. to attract insect that will be helpful in pollination
Mention the function of anther. to produce pollen grains
Mention the function of ovary. it protects the ovules that is essential for fertilization.
What is pollination? The process by which the pollen grains fall on the stigma.
What is fertilization? The process where the pollen grains go through pollen tube, and then go to ovary to meet ovule.
What is germination? The process where the seed develops into seedlings.
Mention the life cycle of a plant. seed, seedling, young plant, adult plant.
What is seed dispersal? seed dispersal is the spread of seeds away from the parent plant.
Why do plants need seeds dispersal? so the young plants don't need to compete over nutrition, space with their parent plant. Or because if there are too many plants in one place, the plants won't grow well.
Mention 4 ways of seeds dispersal. by wind, animals/human, water, fruit explosion
Examples of seeds dispersal by wind are ........ dandelions, mapple, cattails
Examples of seeds dispersal by explosion are ........ lady finger, peas
Examples of seeds dispersal by animals/human are ........ blueberries, mango
Examples of seeds dispersal by water are ........ water lilly, coconut
Explain the process of germination Seed absorbs water, the root grows, the stem grows, and the leaf grows.
Mention 3 conditions for the seeds to germinate. the presence of water, air and right temperature.
Alex and Bruce have done an experiment. Alex puts his seed in a pot, waters it everyday and put it by the window. Bruce puts his seed in a pot, waters it everyday and put it in the fridge. After 7 days, Bruce's seed does not grow, explain why. Because the seed did not get the right temperature.
After fertilization, the ovary will develop into ....... meanwhile the ovule will develop into ....... ovary --> fruit ovule --> seed
