Peptic Ulcers

Peptic Ulcers Ulcerations of the Mucous membrane or deeper structures of the GI tract.
They most commonly occur in the? Stomach and duodenum(sm. intestine)
Peptic Ulcers refers to? Ulcers that are the result of acid and pepsin inbalances.
Peptic Ulcers affect More men than woman.
Symptoms occur between ages 25-50 and peak at 40
Peptic Ulcers require the presents of gastric acid and result from 4 major causes
1.deudenal ulcers(o blood) An excess of gastric acid
2.Gastric Ulcer(A blood) decrease the natural ability of the GI mucosa to protect itself from acid and pepsin.
3.H pylori In fection with spiral shaped bacteria.
4.Gastric injury from NSAIDS,asririn,and corticosteroids.
H pylori in 70% of gastric 95% gastric ulcers
