What are the levels of organisation for the human body? Chemical , cellular, tissue, organ, organ system, organism
What are the physiology catagories? Cell, Organ, Systemic, Pathological
What is cell physiology? the study of the functions of cells
What is cytology? study of cells
What is gross anatomy? Study of structures that can be seen with the naked eye
What is histology? study of tissues
What is human physiology? the study of the functions of the human body
What is microscopic anatomy? the study of structures that are too small to be seen with the naked eye
What is organ physiology? functions of specific organs
What is pathological physiology? effects of diseases
What is regional anatomy? and give an example the study of all the structures in a particular region of the body. For example: abdomen or legs
What is surface anatomy? study of general form and superficial markings
What is systemic anatomy? and give an example the study of body systems such as the cardiovascular system
What is systemic physiology? functions of an organ system
What is the cardiovascular system? heart and blood vessels
What is the digestive system? a group of organs that work together to break down food
What is the endocrine system? a regulatory system that influences metabolism, growth, reproduction.
What is the female reproductive system? ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina, breasts
What is the integumentary system? skin
What is the lymphatic system? the network of vessels through which lymph drains from the tissues into the blood.
What is the male reproductive system? Transports and reproduce the sperm to the female reproductive system
what is the muscular system? made up of the muscles that allow you to move
What is the nervous system? The master controlling and communicating system of the body
What is the respiratory system? Includes the lungs and exchanges oxygen and carbon dioxide.
What is the skeletal system? All the bones in the body and the tissues that connect them
What is the urinary system? -the excretory (urinary) system helps maintain the water & electrolyte balance in the body - regulates the acid-base balance in the blood - removes other cellular wastes.
