Acronyms

TermDefinition
Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) carbon compounds that contribute the creation of photochemical smog; found in paints and aerosol sprays
Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB) industrial chemicals that could lead to various skin condition including permanent acne; found in coolants and lubricants
Persistent Organic Pollutant (POP) a group of organic compounds that have toxic properties, persist in the environment, accumulate in food chains and could harm organisms; DDT and PCBs are both considered this
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) chemicals that are the main contributor to ozone depletion and the substance with the highest GWP; found in refrigerators and air conditioning refrigerants
