COOKING VERBS
Verbs you use to speak about how you cook, or how to prepare a recipe

| To bake | To cook something with dry heat, in an oven |
| To grill | to cook food over fire or hot coals, usually on a flat metal frame |
| To grate | to reduce to small particles by rubbing on a grater |
| To slice | to cut something into thin, flat pieces |
| To melt | to change a solid substance into a liquid |
| To squeeze | to press something such as a liquid out of something |
| To whisk | to beat eggs, cream, etc. with a fork or a whisk |
| To mash | to crush food until it is soft and smooth |
| To dice | to cut food into small cubes |
| To chop | to cut something into smaller pieces |
| To peel | to remove the skin of fruit and vegetables |
| To drain | to make the water or liquid in something flow away |
| To mix | to combine or blend into one mass or mixture |
| To fry | to cook food in hot oil or fat |
| To boil | to cook something in boiling water |
| To stir | to mix a liquid or other substance by moving an object such as a spoon |
| To simmer | to cook slowly at a temperature just below boiling |
