Ethics key terms
| Term | Definition |

| Ethics | Refers to the standards of right and wrong that influence human behavior, usually in terms of rights, obligations, benefits to society, fairness, or specific virtues |
| Morality | Refers to private, personal standards of what is right and wrong in conduct, character, and attitude |
| Values | Personal beliefs about what is true or right |
| Beliefs | Interpretation or conclusion that one accepts as true |
| Integrity | Acting in accordance with an appropriate code of ethics and accepted standards of practice |
| Fidelity | A person’s responsibility to be loyal and truthful in their relationships with others |
| Autonomy | An individuals right to self determination |
| Nonmaleficence | Do no harm |
| Beneficence | Act/ acting for the benefit of others |
| Justice | Treating all patients fairly and in accordance with honors, standards, and law |
| Utility (utilitarianism) | Ensures the most good is provided to the greatest number of people while causing harm to the least amount of people |
| Veracity | Telling the truth |
