| Term | Definition |

| Water Cycle | The cycle that moves water across the planet and throughout the atmosphere |
| Evaporation | Occurs when liquid turns into a gas (Water vapor) |
| Condensation | Occurs when water vapor cools and turn into a liquid |
| Transpiration | Evaporation of water out of leaves of plants |
| Precipitation | Water that falls as rain, snow, sleet, or hail. |
| Air Pressure | Weight of the Earth's atmosphere pressing down upon its surface. |
| Barometer | Device that measures air pressure |
| Anemometer | Device that measures wind speed |
| Hemisphere | Half of the globe; Northern/southern or eastern/western. |
| Stratus Clouds | Layered low level clouds; indicate chances of rain |
| Cirrus Clouds | Thin, feathery high level clouds; indicate clear weather |
| Cumulus Clouds | Puffy low level clouds |
| Cold Front | Edge of a cool air mass; brings a line of showers or thunderstorms. |
| Warm Front | Edge of a warm air mass; brings heavy rain. |
| Jet Stream | Air current that affects weather in North America |
| Gulf Stream | Warm water current that warms coastal weather |
