S2 Electricity
| What is electric current? | The flow of electrons through a circuit |
| What is an electrical insulator? | A material which does not let electric current flow through it |
| Give an example of an insulator? | wood, glass or plastic |
| What do we call the parts of an electric circuit? | Components |
| What do we call a circuit when all the components are joined in one loop? | Series |
| What do we call a circuit when the components are joined with more than one loop? | Parallel |
| What is the difference between a series and parallel circuit? | A series circuit has only one pathway for electrical current but a parallel circuit has more than one pathway. |
| What component has a diagram of a cross in a circle? | a lamp. |
| What are two advantages of a parallel circuit? | 1. If one component stops working, the others continue to stay on. 2. When more bulbs are added they do not get dimmer as they each recieve the voltage from the battery |
| When bulbs are added to a series circuit, what happens to their brightness? | It decreases. |
| What is the difference between the diagrams of a cell and a battery? | A cell is a big line then little line, a battery is a cell diagram repeated. |
