Forty-six of these are found in the nucleus of a cell. Twenty-three come from one parent and twenty-three come from the other parent Chromosomes
What is the shape of a DNA molecule? Twisted Ladder
What is the scientific name for the DNA molecule? Double Helix
Your blueprint for how you become you DNA
What are the steps of the DNA model made of? Adenine, Thymine, Guanine, Cytosine
What is the base pairing rule? Adenine is always with Thymine and Guanine is always with Cytosine
What are the sides of the Double Helix made of? Sugars and Phosphates
What is meiosis? Meiosis is where a reproductive cell divides into 4 cells, each having 23 chromosomes.
Where are your chromosomes found? In the nucleus of a cell
Is it possible for two people to have the exact same genetic blueprint or DNA? Yes, identical twins
What do we call the male reproductive cell? sperm
What do we call the female reproductive cell? egg
How many chromosomes are found in a normal human cell? 46
How many chromosomes are found in a reproductive cell of a human? 23
What is the purpose of mitosis? for growth, for repairing damaged cells, and for replacing dead cells
Why is reproduction an important process for all living things? Reproduction of organisms keeps the species alive on the earth. Without reproduction, the species would become extinct.
What is fertilization? Fertilization is where an egg and sperm join creating a zygote.
What do we call the fertilized egg cell? a zygote
