Mycosis Mycosis is a fungal infection.
Lichens Lichens are associations of millions of green algae or cyanobacteria held in a mass.
Topsoil The soil on the top of the ground. It is normally the richest and filled with rotting organic material.
Humus The remains of partially decayed organic material.
Cation exchange Is the way that plants take in charged particles from the ground.
Mycorrhiza A way in which fungus wraps around a root and supplies it with extra nutrients.
Nitrogen fixation The way in which nitrogen is fixed into the soil.
Nodules Swellings on the roots that have been infected.
Herbivores Are plant eating animals. plants are forced to come up with new ways to keep them off.
Systemic aquired resistance Protection against pathogens.
Defenses Certain plants have made a way to signal wasps, which come and lay eggs in catepillars which are eating them.
