rotation the spinning of a body, such as a plant, on its axis
day the time it takes for a planet to complete one rotation; for Earth, 24 hours
revolution the motion of a body that travels around another body, such as Earth around the sun
year the time it takes for a plant to complete one revolution around the sun; for Earth, 365.25 days
north pole the northern geographical pole of the earth, in the middle of the Arctic Ocean
season a period of time characterized by a pattern of temperature and other weather trends
equinox a day when the hours of daylight is the same in the northern and southern hemispheres marks a change in season
solstice a day when one hemisphere has the maximum hours of daylight while the other hemisphere has the minimum hours of daylight
