what happens in the nose? air enters and leaves the body
the pharynx (throat): connects the nose to the trachea
what is the trachea? a large air tube which goes from the pharynx down to the chest
muscus: coats the trachea and traps bacteria and dust
what is two two bronchii? one bronchus
what is the bronchus? two tubes that split from the trachea to each lung
what is the alveoli? little sacks where gas exchange takes place
during gas exchange, what enters the blood and what exits the blood? oxygen enters, C0² exits
what happens to the alveoli when people smoke? the alveoli gets coated with tar
what happens to people when their alveoli gets coated with tar? it makes it harder for people to breathe
what can smoking cause? lung cancer
who else gets affected by smokers? people the smokers live with
what is the whole purpose of the respiratory system? to get oxygen IN the body and get carbon dioxide OUT of the body
what types of smoke can produce tar and cause cancer? tobacco smoke and marijuana smoke
