Adaptation Any trait or behavior that helps an organism survive in its environment
Behavior An activity or action that helps an organism survive in its environment
Competition when more than two or more organisms seek the same resource at the same time
Predator Consumers the capture and eat other animals
Prey Organism that is captured and eaten by another organism
Commensalism A symbiotic relationship where on organism benefits and the other is NOT affected
Mutualism A symbiotic relationship where both organisms benefit
Parasitism A symbiotic relationship where on organism benefits and the other is harmed
Limiting Factor A condition or resource that keeps a population at a certain size
Pollution A change in the environment that is harmful to organisms; can be air, water or soil
Deforestation Removal of trees in forests for human use
Overfishing When fishing activities reduce a species population to below acceptable levels
Marine Debris Human-created waste that becomes afloat in a lake, sea or ocean.
Artificial Reefs A human-made underwater structure that supports marine life in areas that are generally void of life on the bottom.
