| Fissure | Break or crack in the skin |
| Macule | Flat, colored spot |
| Nodule | Solid, raised lesion larger than a papule |
| Papule | Small, circular, raised lesion on the surface of the skin |
| Plaque | A Patch |
| Pustule | Raised lesion containing pus |
| Ulcer | Lesion resulting from destruction of the skin and perhaps subcutaneous tissue |
| Vesicle | Small, fluid-filled, raised lesion (Blister, Bleb) |
| Wheal | Smooth, rounded, slightly raised area often associated with itching (Hives induced by an allergic reaction) |
| Alopecia | Absence or loss of hair (Baldness) |
| Cicatrization | Process of scar formation (A scar is a Cicatrix) Ice Pick Scar, Box Scar, Hypertrophic Scar, Rolling Scar |
| Debridement | Removal of dead or damaged tissue |
| Dehiscence | Splitting or bursting, as when the layers of a wound separate |
| Epidermis | Outermost layer of skin |
| Dermis | Layer of skin between the epidermis and subcutaneous tissue (True Skin or Corium) |
| Subcutaneous Tissue | Layer of tissue beneath the skin (Hypodermis) |
| Diaphoresis | Profuse Sweating |
| Evisceration | Protrusion of internal organs (Viscera) through an opening, such as a wound |
| Paronychia | Infection around the nail |
| Pediculosis | Infestation with lice |
| Pressure Ulcer | Ulcer caused by pressure to an area of the body (Decubitus Ulcer, Bedsore, Pressure Sore) |
| Pruritus | Severe itching |
| Verruca | Epidermal Tumor (Wart) |
