Endocrine Pertaining to a ductless gland that secretes directly into the blood
Hormone Secretion of an endocrine gland. Substance that travels in the blood and has a regulatory effect on tissues, organs, and glands.
Receptor Site on the cell membrane or within a cell to which a substance, such as a hormone attaches
Target Tissue Specific tissue on which a hormone acts. May also be called the target organ.
Panhypopituitarism Under activity of the entire pituitary gland
Acromegaly Overgrowth of bone and soft tissue, especially in the hands, feet, and face, caused by an excess growth hormone in an adult.
Giantism Overgrowth caused by an excess of growth hormone from the pituitary gland during childhood
ACTH Adrenocorticotropic Hormone
ADH Antidiuretic Hormone
FBS Fasting Blood Sugar
GH Growth Hormone
IGT Impaired Glucose Tolerance
