| Endogenous | Having an internal cause or origin. |
| Exogenous | Relating to or developing from external factors. |
| Glycosuria | The presence of reducing sugar in the urine. |
| Hyperglycemia | High blood glucose. |
| Ketoacidosis | A serious complication where the body produces excess blood acids. |
| Ketone bodies | Produced by the liver and used peripheral as an energy source when glucose is not readily available. |
| Lipoatrophy | Selective loss of subcutaneous fat without exudative reaction or fibrosis. |
| Lipohypertrophy | Lump of fatty tissue under your skin caused by repeated injections in the same place. |
| Macrovascular | A disease of any large blood vessel in the body |
| Microvascular | Relating to the smallest blood vessels. |
| Nephropathy | The deterioration of kidney function. |
| Neuropathy | Disease or dysfunction of one or more peripheral nerves. |
| Polydipsia | Abnormally great thirst as a symptom of disease or psychological disturbance. |
| Polyphagia | Excessive eating from excess hunger or increased appetite. |
| Polyuria | Passing abnormally large amounts of urine. |
| Retinopathy | Disease of the retina which results in impairment or loss of vision. |
