| beach | a narrow, gently sloping strip of land that lies along the edge of an ocean, lake, or river. |
| bedrock | solid unbroken rock of earth's crust |
| climate | the average weather in a given area over a longer period of time |
| drumlin | low oval mound or small hill, typically one of a group, consisting of compacted boulder clay molded by past glacial action. |
| dune | a mound or ridge of sand deposited by the wind |
| dynamic equilibrium | when a change in any one of the factors results in a modification of the landscape and the establishment of a new equilibrium |
| escarpment | when a rock layer produces a ridge that separates tow gently sloping surfaces, the steep ridge is called an escarpment |
| glacial erosion | Glaciers can shape landscapes through erosion, or the removal of rock and sediment. |
| glacier | a large, long lasting mass of ice |
| global warming | the long-term warming of the planet's overall temperature |
| ice ages | a glacial episode during a past geological period. |
| kettle | a depression in the ground thought to have been formed by the melting of an ice block trapped in glacial deposits, especially one that is circular and deep |
| landscape | portion of earths surface visible from any given point on the land of from space |
| landscape regions | landscapes with similar characteristic can be grouped into distinctive regions |
| mass movements | when earths materials move downslope under the influence of gravity |
| mid-ocean ridges | a continuous range of undersea volcanic mountains that encircles the globe almost entirely underwater. |
| moraine | a mass of rocks and sediment carried down and deposited by a glacier, typically as ridges at its edges or extremity. |
| mountain | a large mass of land which rises to a great height above its surroundings |
| ocean currents | is a continuous flow of water in the ocean. Some currents are surface currents while other currents are much deeper flowing hundreds of feet below the surface of the water |
| outwash | rock material deposited by the meltwater of a glacier |
| outwash plain | a body of outwash that forms a broad plain beyond the moraine |
| plain | an extensive region of low elevation where the land is level or gently rolling |
| plateaus | large regions having horizontal rock structures at high elevations above sea level |
| sandbars | submerged or partly exposed ridge of sand or coarse sediment that is built by waves offshore from a beach |
| stream drainage patterns | patterns formed by the streams in a drainage basin |
| terrestrial | of, on, or relating to the earth. |
| time | the measured or measurable period during which an action, process, or condition exists or continues |
| trenches | a long cut in the ground |
| tsunamis | a series of waves in a water body caused by the displacement of a large volume of water, generally in an ocean or a large lake. |
| uplifting forces | forces which build mountains, enlarge continents, and generally raise or roughen Earth's surface |
| wave | a long body of water curling into an arched form and breaking on the shore. |
| wave action | a conservable measure of the wave part of a motion. |
| wavelength | the distance between successive crests of a wave, especially points in a sound wave or electromagnetic wave. |
