Solids, Liquids, and Gases
| Term | Definition |

| Matter | the material or stuff that everything is made of |
| Prediction | an idea about what will happen in the future |
| Inference | the tendency of an object you can figure out without observing something directly |
| Observe | looking, watching things with a purpose |
| Measure | collecting information using measurement tools |
| Volume | the amount of space that can object or substance takes up |
| Mass | the amount of matter in an object or substance |
| Weight | a measure of the pull of gravity on an object |
| Solid | a state of matter in which the substance has a definite shape and a definite volume |
| Liquid | a state of matter in which the substance has a definite volume but takes the shape of the container |
| Gas | a state of matter in which the substance takes both the shape and volume of its container |
| Temperature | the average speed of the particle in a substance |
| Thermometer | a tool that measures temperature |
| Freezing point | the temperature at which a substance changes from a liquid to a solid |
| Melting point | the temperature at which a substance changes from solid to liquid |
| Classify | putting things in the definite categories by common properties |
| Evidence | proof or clue to find some sort of conclusion |
| Chemical change | a change that produces new substance |
| Physical change | a change in one form of matter to another form without turning into a new substance |
| Chemical reaction | the change that happens to substances during a chemical change |
| Boiling point | the temperature at which a substance changes from a liquid to a gas |
