| Connective Tissue | Four Main Types: Fibrous, bone, cartilage, and blood |
| Muscle Tissue | Skeletal (striated voluntary), smooth (nonstriated involuntary), and cardiac (striated involunatry) |
| Diaphysis | Main shaft of long bone |
| Epiphyses | Both ends of a long bone; made of cancellous bone filled with marrow |
| Articular Cartilage | Layer of hyaline cartilage that covers the articular surface of epiphyses |
| Periosteum | Dense, white fibrous membrane that covers bone |
| Medullary Cavity | Tubelike, hollow space in the diaphysis |
| Mastoiditis | Inflammation of the air spaces within the mastoid portion of the temporal bone |
| Cranial Bones | Frontal, parietal, temporal, occipital, sphenoid, and ethmoid |
| Facial Bones | Maxilla, mandible, zygomatic, nasal |
