Name the layers of the epidermis beginning with the deepest layer. Stratum Basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, stratum corneum
Define homeostasis. A state of balance among all body systems needed for the body to maintain and function correctly.
Describe the body when it is in anatomical position. The body is in a standing position with the hips at shoulder length and the palms facing out.
What does distal mean? away from or farthest from the trunk or the point of origin of a body part.
What are the two types of epithelial tissue? Membranous and glandular
What are the three classes of blood cells? erythrocytes, leukocytes, and thrombocytes
What are the three types of muscle tissue that are present in the body? skeletal muscle tissue, smooth muscle tissue, cardiac muscle tissue
What are the 5 functions of bone? support, protection, movement, mineral storage, hematopoiesis
What bases pair together in each DNA molecule? adenine always pairs with thymine and guanine always pairs with cytosine
What are the four distinct phases of mitosis? Prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase
All tissues can be classified by their structure and function into four principle types. Name the four types of tissue. Epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue and nervous tissue
