| Renewable resources | Resources that are replaced quickly by natural processes in relatively short amount of time. |
| Nuclear Energy | Energy released from atomic reactions. |
| Reclamation | A process in which mined land must be recovered with soil and replanted with vegetation. |
| Solar energy | Energy from the Sun. |
| Wind farm | A group of wind turbines that produce electricity. |
| Hydroelectric power | Flowing water producing electricity. |
| Geothermal energy | Thermal energy from the Earth's interior. |
| Biomass energy | Energy produced by burning organic matter such as wood, food scraps, and alcohol. |
| Ores | Deposits of minerals that are large enough to be mined for a profit. |
| Deforestation | Cutting large areas of forests for human activities. |
| Photochemical smog | A brownish haze produced when nitrogen compounds and other pollutants in the air react in the presence of sunlight. |
| Acid precipitation | Precipitation that has a pH less than 5.6. |
