Nonrenewable Resources Resources used quicker than they are replaced by natural processes.
Renewable resources Resources that are replaced quickly by natural processes in relatively short amount of time.
Nuclear Energy Energy released from atomic reactions.
Reclamation A process in which mined land must be recovered with soil and replanted with vegetation.
Solar energy Energy from the Sun.
Wind farm A group of wind turbines that produce electricity.
Hydroelectric power Flowing water producing electricity.
Geothermal energy Thermal energy from the Earth's interior.
Biomass energy Energy produced by burning organic matter such as wood, food scraps, and alcohol.
Ores Deposits of minerals that are large enough to be mined for a profit.
Deforestation Cutting large areas of forests for human activities.
Photochemical smog A brownish haze produced when nitrogen compounds and other pollutants in the air react in the presence of sunlight.
Acid precipitation Precipitation that has a pH less than 5.6.
