Nonrenewable resource Resources that are used faster than they can be replaced.
renewable resource Resources that can be replaced by natural process.
nuclear energy Energy released from atomic reactions .
reclamation A process in which mined land must be recovered with soil and replanted with vegetation.
solar energy Energy from the Sun.
wind farm A group of wind turbines that produces electricity
hydroelectric power Electricity produced by flowing water.
geothermal energy Thermal energy from Earth's interior.
biomass energy Energy produced by burning organic matter, such as wood, food scraps, and alcohol.
ore deposits of minerals that are large enough to be mined
deforestation The cutting of large areas of forests for human activities.
photo-chemical smog A brownish haze produced when nitrogen compounds and other pollutants in air react in the presents of sunlight.
acid precipitation Precipitation that has a pH less than 5.6.
