Rain Liquid water that falls when the surface and air are above freezing temperature
Snow Fluffy ice that falls when everything between the cloud and Earth's surface is below freezing
Sleet Ice Crystals that fall and melt in a layer of warmer air, then refreeze when they reach a layer of cold air
Hail Balls of Ice that fall from cumulonimbus clouds
Freezing Rain Falls like rain but freezes on contact with a frozen surface, very dangerous for driving
Graupel Frosty, Slushy snow
