QuestionAnswer
Control Variable Any variable that's held constant in a research study. It's not a variable of interest in the study, but it's controlled because it could influence the outcomes.
Experimental Variable (statistics) A variable whose values are independent of changes in the values of other variables.
Constants A quantity that is unknown but assumed to have a fixed value in a specified mathematical context. A theoretical or experimental quantity, condition, or factor that does not vary in specified circumstances.
Independent Variable A variable that stands alone and isn't changed by the other variables you are trying to measure.
Dependent Variable The variable that is being measured or tested in an experiment.
Valid How accurately a method measures what it is intended to measure.
Hypothesis A testable statement about the relationship between two or more variables or a proposed explanation for some observed phenomenon.
Theory A well-substantiated explanation of an aspect of the natural world that can incorporate laws, hypotheses and facts.
Infer The process of drawing conclusions based on evidence and reasoning.
