Aten Asteroid earth-crossing asteroid with a semi-major axis less than 1 AU
Amor Asteroid asteroid that only crosses the orbit of Mars
Trojan Asteroids two groups of asteroids orbiting 60 degrees ahead or behind the planet Jupiter
Ceres largest object in the asteroid belt; only dwarf planet in the inner solar system
Pallas third largest object in the asteroid belt
Vesta second largest object in the asteroid belt
C-Type Asteroids very dark asteroids that are carbonaceous in composition
S-Type Asteroids asteroids that are silicate (rocky) in composition
M-Type Asteroids asteroids that are metallic (iron and nickel) in composition
Lagrangian Point one of five locations in the plane of two massive bodies orbiting another where a third body of negligible mass can remain in equilibrium
Resonance when two characteristic times are related in some simple way
Kirkwood Gaps spacing of orbits in the asteroid belt, produced by dynamic resonances with Jupiter
Iridium rare element on Earth, mostly found in a layer of clay dating from about 65 million years ago
