DNA A chemical that contains information that an organism needs to grow and function
Structure of DNA "double helix" or "twisted ladder"
deoxyribose sugar that makes up sides of structure
nitrogen bases (C,G, A, T) make up rungs of structure
DNA duplication unwinds, unzips, special enzymes form new sides
genes sections of DNA on chromosome which contain instructions for specific proteins
RNA carries code for proteins from nucleus to ribosomes in cytoplasm
Messenger RNA carries code for order of bonding of amino acids
Transfer RNA brings amino acids to the ribosomes to build proteins
Ribosomal RNA makes up ribosomes
mutation any permanent change in the DNA sequence of a cell's gene or chromosome
