Earths Rotation

Day/Night Cycle Pattern of light and dark caused by Earth's rotation
Shadow What appears when an object blocks light
Axis Invisible line around which the Earth rotates
Apparent Motion When stationary objects appear to be moving
Rotate The spinning of a planet, Moon, or other object on its axis
24 Hours Amount of time earth takes to make one full rotation
Sunset The Sun appears to sink beneath the horizon
Sunrise The Sun appears to climb above the horizon
Atmosphere The air that surrounds the Earth; it is made of a mixture of gases
Composition The combination of substances that make up a whole object
Orbit The path that one object in space follows as it revolves around another object in space
Revolution One orbit of an object, such as a planet or satellite, in space around another object in space
