| Umbriel | darkest of Uranus' large moons |
| Titania | Uranus' largest moon |
| Radiation Darkening | solar energy slowly causes a dark hydrocarbon layer to build up on an icy surface |
| Triton | Neptune's largest moon with a retrograde orbit, nitrogen geysers, and ice volcanoes |
| Retrograde Orbit | some moons of the outer planets orbit backwards (clockwise) |

| Planetary Ring System | material organized into thin, flat rings encircling a planet's equator |
| Ring Segments | narrow region in a planetary ring system where the density of ring particles is high |
