| Haze | dust and other dry particles obscuring the clarity of one's view |
| Ammonia | NH3, significantly lacking in the outermost Jovian planets due to their colder temperatures |
| Methane | simplest hydrocarbon, CH4, responsible for the blue color of Uranus and Neptune |

| Perturbation | deviation in the motion of a body caused by the gravitational force of another passing object |
| Bands | active pressure regions in Jovian planets' atmospheres with convective motion |
