ELECTRICITY and HEAT

QuestionAnswer
Circuit A simple circuit consits of an energy source, wires, and a load . In the case of a simple circuit in the text , the battery is the enenrgy.
Switch Switches are optional components of circuits .
Conductor Material that allows electric charges to move through them easily, Metals ( aluminum , copper,iron ,steel ).
Insulator Materials that do not easily permit the flow of electricity,glass , rubber , cotton , wood , plasitc , paper .
Closed circuit Circuits must be closed , which , requires a complete loop and a minimunm of two wires.
Open circuit Open circuits break the flow of electricity .
Conduction Heat can be transferred by conduction which is contact .
Convention Heat can be transferred trough convention ( heat rises and expands , cooler sinks and contracts ).
Radiation Heat can be transferred by the sun's radiation ( rays ) .
Heat Heat is a transfer of energy but temperture is a measure of the average kinetic energy of a substance .
