Anterior The Front
Ventral The belly side ( equivalent to anterior )
Dorsal The back or behind
Cranial or Cephalic The Head
Superior Above or higher
Caudal The tail or coccyx
Inferior Below or lower level
Medial Toward the midsagittal plan (middle or think belly button)
Lateral Away from the midsagittal plane ( going left )
Proximal Closer to attachments
Distal Away from the point of attachments
Superficial At, near, or close to the body surface
Deep Farther from the body surface
Frontal (Coronal ) Plane Separates anterior and posterior portions of the body
Sagittal Plane Seperates right and left portions.
Midsagittal Plane Passes midline and seperates the body into EQUAL right and left sides.
Parasagittal Plane Misses the midline. Separates the body into UNEQUAL right and left sides.
Transverse or Horizontal Plane Has a top and a bottom. (Superior and inferior)
Thoracic Cavity are? The Pericardial ( heart) Right and Left Pleural ( Lungs )
Abdominopelvic Cavity are? Abdominal, Pelvic and Peritoneal (space btw abdominal)
1st Level of Organization Chemical Level (molecular)
2nd Level of Organization Cellular Level (organelles)
3rd Level of Organization Tissue Level - cells working together
4rd Level of Organization Organ Level - tissues function together
5th Level of Organization Organ system Level - interacting to accomplish a goal.
6th Level of Organization Organis Level - you or a cat (live)
