| cumulus | puffy with flat bottoms and round tops that signal fair weather |
| cirrus | wispy feathery clouds made from ice cyrstlys that form at high levels |
| stratus | clouds that form in flat layers and often cover much of the sky |
| nimbus | a rain cloud |
| fog | a stratus cloud that forms when air is cooled to its dew point near the ground |
| anemometer | an instrument that is used to measure wind speed |
| wind vane | an instrument used to measure wind direction |
| thermometer | used to measure temperature |
| sling psychrometer | tool made of a wet and dry thermometer to measure humidity |
| barometer | n instrument that measures pressure |
| rain gauge | an instrument that measures precipitation |
| weather map | a map that uses symbols to show weather data |
| weather sattellites | type of satallite that is used to moniter weather |
| weather radars | an instrument that send up electromagnetic pulses to find precipitation |
| isobar | line on a map that connects points that have the same barometric reading at a time |
| isotherm | a place on a map that joins places with the same temperature |
| cumulonimbus | thunderstorm clouds .wind can make it shaped like an anvil. |
| relative humidity | the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere at any given times usually less than required to saturate the air |
