| Divergent Boundaries | Forms Rifts and Ridges |
| Stress | Force that is applied to a rock that causes deformations |
| Transform Boundaries | Plates slide past each other |
| Alfred Wegener | Continental drift theory scientist |
| Volcanoes | Continent colliding Oceanic plate |
| Asthenosphere | The soft layer of the mantle on which pieces of the lithosphere move |
| Supercontinent | Pangaea |
| Continental Drift Theory | Theory that states, continents drifts from each other |
| Crust | The thin, outermost layer of the Earth, or the uppermost part of the lithosphere |
| Lithosphere | the outermost, rigid layer of the Earth that consists of the crust and the rigid upper part of the mantle |
| Convection | process by which hot material from deep within the Earth rises while cooler material near the surface sinks |
| Sea-floor spreading | as tectonic plates move away from each other, the sea floor spreads apart and magma rises to fill in the gap |
