| DNA | hereditary material that determines an organisms traits- eye/hair color, freckles, etc |
| prokaryotic | cell or organism that does NOT have a nucleus, includes all bacteria and archaea |
| eukaryotic | cell or organism that that HAS a nucleus- plant, animal, fungus, and protist species |
| archaea | single celled organism that survives in extreme environments- volcanoes, acid, salty areas |
| species | group of interbreeding organisms that share similar characteristics- dogs, cats, birds |
| organelles | one of the many parts or structures in cell that has a specific job or function- nucleus, cytoplasm, membrane, etc. |
| cell wall | outermost, rigid, non living layer of a plant cell- NOT in an animal cell! |
