Why are fossils important? Fossils can teach us about the environment, plants, and animals from long ago.

What happens when habitats change over time? The plants and animals living in the habitat also adapt and change over time to match the new habitat.
How can you figure out what the habitat used to be like in the area we live in? We can dig deep below the ground to look for fossils to tell us about the plants, animals, and environment that use to be there.
