If Madelyn is at rest and Will comes out of nowhere and decks her what will happen? she will not be at rest any longer for Will is acting as an outside force causing Madelyn who as at rest to go into motion.

what is Newton's first Law? An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

if jack is running in the hallway and collides with a teacher what will happen? because the teacher will be acting as an outside force she will stop Jack's motion.
