| Term | Definition |

| Biome | A geographical area on earth that contains ecosystems with similar biotic and abiotic features. |
| Desert | Biome that receives very little rain. |
| Tundra | Biome that is cold, dry, and treeless. |
| Freshwater | Water that has no salt, low salinity, low buoyancy, and is not very dense. |
| Grassland | Biome where grasses are the dominant plant. |
| Ocean | A water area with salt, making it have saltwater. |
| Permafrost | Freezes the soil. and plants and plants' roots. This causes the roots to not be able to grow and happens in the Tundra. |
| Pioneer Species | The first species that colonize new or undisturbed land. |
| Taiga | A forest biome consisting mostly of cone-bearing evergreen trees. |
| Temperate Rainforest | Regions of Earth between the tropics and the polar circles and has a moist forest ecosystem. |
| Tropical Rainforest | Forests that grow near the equator and receive large amounts of rain. |
| Wetland | An Aquatic ecosystem that has a thin layer of water covering soil that is wet most of the time. |
