Atmosphere

Earth's atmosphere

TermDefinition
atmosphere the region of gas that surrounds the earth.
air pressure the measure of the force with which particles in the air push on an area of a surface.
troposphere the is the lowest layer of the atmosphere and provides oxygen to living organisms in this layer.
stratosphere the layer directly above the troposphere and contains very few clouds because there is little water vapor there.
ozone layer the layer that protects the earth from ultraviolet radiation from the sun and is heated because of this.
mesosphere the layer that is very difficult to study, but we know that meteors burn up in this layer.
thermosphere the layer of the atmosphere where temperature starts to increase again. This layer has very few molecules.
exosphere the layer of that is debated as to whether it is even a layer at all. This layer boundaries outer space.
