Earth's atmosphere

| atmosphere | the region of gas that surrounds the earth. |
| air pressure | the measure of the force with which particles in the air push on an area of a surface. |
| troposphere | the is the lowest layer of the atmosphere and provides oxygen to living organisms in this layer. |
| stratosphere | the layer directly above the troposphere and contains very few clouds because there is little water vapor there. |
| ozone layer | the layer that protects the earth from ultraviolet radiation from the sun and is heated because of this. |
| mesosphere | the layer that is very difficult to study, but we know that meteors burn up in this layer. |
| thermosphere | the layer of the atmosphere where temperature starts to increase again. This layer has very few molecules. |
| exosphere | the layer of that is debated as to whether it is even a layer at all. This layer boundaries outer space. |
