Sup 8: Sound Waves

QuestionAnswer
Amplitude Distance from the center position to the maximum or minimum intensity of the wave
Frequency(f) the number of wavelengths that pass during a period of time
Period (T) the time it takes for one wave cycle to occur
Wavelength (λ) the distance between two sound waves
Vibration a repeated back and forth or up and down motion
Wave a disturbance that transfers energy from place to place
Hertz (Hz) a unit of measurement for frequency
Decibel (dB) a unit of measurement of loudness
Medium material through which a wave travels
Sound a longitudinal wave that is caused by vibrations and travels through a medium
