photosynthesis the process in plants that produce food for the plants and oxygen.
producer an organism that makes its own food through photosynthesis
herbivore animals that eat only plants
carnivore animals that eat only other animals
omnivore animals that eat both plants and animals
decomposer an organism that eats dead or decaying matter and changes it into nutrients or minerals
food web a useful diagram for displaying the feeding relationships among all the organisms in an ecosystem
trophic level the level in a food web in which energy is transferred through
parasite an organism that feeds on a host
symbiotic relationship interactions between two or more species.
mutualism a relationship where both organisms receive something positive
commensalism one species gets food or other benefits without harming the other species
consumer an organism that eats other organisms
