Petroleum Oil as it comes out of the ground
Petrochemicals Chemicals obtained by refining crude oil
Oil Sand A mixture of clay, sand, water, and a combustible organic material (a thick, sticky, heavy oil)
Shale Oil Heavy oil obtained when kerogen in oil shale is vaporized at high temperatures and then condensed
Liquefied Petroleum Gas When propane and butane gases are liquefied and removed from a natural gas field
Liquefied Natural Gas Natural gas converted to a liquid form by cooling it to a very low temperature
Coal A solid fossil fuel that was formed in several stages out of the remains of land plants and subjected to intense heat and pressure over millions of years
Synthetic Natural Gas Gaseous fuel containing mostly methane produced from solid coal
Nuclear Fusion A nuclear change in which two isotopes of light elements, such as hydrogen, are forced together at extremely high temperatures until they fuse to form a heavier nucleus, releasing energy in the process
