Note: Layers of the SAME AGE have the same type of fossils. THESE FOSSILS ONLY: ~lived for a short oeriod of time ~wide geographic range-are in a large area ~abundant-lots of them ~easy to identify
Note- Low of fossil succession- ~as animal adapt to there environment the fossil change
Question- If we find the same kind of fossil in 2 locations then these rocks are? The same age

Response Sheet- A student's little brother said to her, "The fossils in the Grand Canyon are dead bodies of animals that washed up onto the rocks as the river passed by." If you were the student, what would you say to your brother? That is not true, fossils are dead things that got compacted in between sediments, after a while they turned to rock with the imprint of the thing. Fossils can be made from plants, shells, animals and other things.
Question- True or False. the imprint needs to be buried fast then decompressed. Then turn into a rock. Then the river eroded the rock exposing the fossil. True
